Eating Plants Promotes Health. We Know That! But Now, At Last, the Medical Community Is Catching Up.

Out of the continuing maelstrom (some would say muddle) of healthcare issues — insurance snarls, drug prices, soaring treatment costs that don’t seem resolvable no matter how much effort is made — a “new” approach is emerging: plant-based diets as a way to help prevent and perhaps treat diseases and disorders.

“Right!” you say. “So what else is new?”

What’s new is that, at last, the medical community is becoming open to the idea of rethinking agriculture and food to reshape public health and the environment.

This is BIG. But to take root and grow (pun intended), it needs strong support across the nation. One way to do that would be to insert the topic into the current Democratic debates.

That’s why WeTheTrillions, a Public Benefit Corporation using technology and plant-based foods to reengineer preventative healthcare, has launched a petition requesting the Democratic National Committee to organize a dedicated Town Hall Debate with all candidates to discuss their strategies to reform public health in the US. It has already been signed by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn and more than 1,600 of the world's top scientists, clinicians, and scientific thought leaders.

WeTheTrillions is asking for your help in starting to get this important movement in front of the country’s legislators. They’ve come to us because our audience, people like you who believe that our nation and the world deserve a better healthcare system rooted in a plant-centric diet, are the backbone of the healthy plant-based lifestyle.

You can easily sign the petition right here to start our political leaders thinking about this urgent issue.

Monday, October 28, is the deadline for receiving 10,000 signatures on the petition to organize the Town Hall Democratic Debate. Please consider adding your name to demonstrate your belief that plant-based foods are not a stylish trend or a hashtag for aspirational healthy living, but a meaningful preventative and potentially therapeutic route to better health.

As Lamiaa Bounahmidi, founder and CEO of WeTheTrillions, says, “When 60% of US voters have a chronic disease and 40% have two or more, this means that every household is dealing directly or indirectly with the consequences of an antiquated public health paradigm. Healthcare doesn’t start at emergency care. It starts at the farm, the supermarket, the air we breathe, the policies we vote for, and the preventative care we get before getting labeled as 'diseased.' "

If you agree, here’s your opportunity to have a strong plant-based impact on the future of healthcare.
