The Tennessee Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan and his wife, chef Charity Morgan, will be presenting a keynote at the Plant Based World Conference & Expo. On June 8, 2019, the power couple will present their Plant-Based Play Makers keynote during the event’s Closing Community Day, which is set for June 8, 2019. The Plant Based World Conference & Expo takes place at the Javits Convention Center, located in New York City.
Derrick Morgan is an American NFL linebacker for the Tennessee Titans and was selected 16th overall by the Titans in the 2010 NFL Draft. Chef Charity Morgan is a plant-based culinary chef with over 15 years of cooking experience and received her culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts.
The central goal behind the couple’s presentation is to inform mainstream culture that there is no real need to consume meat and animal products in order to be a playmaker, whether on the field or in everyday life. Plant Based World is eager to have the couple for the event. “The mission behind Plant Based World is to bring the plant-based lifestyle to a mainstream audience, and what’s more mainstream than professional football? Derrick and Charity are helping pioneer this movement by encouraging world-class athletes and the youth they inspire to make the plant-based shift,” said Ben Davis, Content & Communications Director for Plant Based World.
Derrick Morgan now follows a plant-based diet, but it hasn’t always been easy. The NFL linebacker transitioned to a plant-based diet in order to improve his performance in the game. Unfortunately, his lifestyle change was met by ridicule and laughter from his Tennessee Titans teammates. However, after seeing Morgan’s performance and recovery greatly improve, as well as the amazing meals Charity made for him, his teammates became less judgemental and more curious. In fact, many of them even began to experiment with a plant-based diet for themselves. Many vegan Titans players now appear in James Cameron's The Game Changers, an upcoming documentary about vegan athletes.
In a nutshell, the power couple’s Plant-Based Play Makers keynote will discuss the current beliefs that animal products are needed in order to be strong and fit and why these simply are not true. They will also discuss their visions for a bright (and plant-based) future in sports and nutrition.
